A day in Athens
Classical Athens and the Greek ideal
Our tour starts at the Ancient Agora of Athens, the market place which was the most important area of the ancient city and the heart of political, civic and philosophical thought. We then move on to the Pnyx Hill where you will see where democracy was born and where all the great political struggles of the Golden Age were fought. Our walk leads us to Philopapus Hill, better known as the hill of the muses. The location of the hill and most importantly the vistas it provides over the modern city including the Acropolis, make it the ideal spot from which to comprehend the landscape and the topography of ancient Athens and to place the cultural achievements of the Athenians in their physical setting. End of tour.
